Tekonsha Idea Paper

The Tekonsha IDEA, this community's only local publication, has proudly served this community since 1967. This volunteer based paper is an essential communication tool for our residents and also provides current happenings from our community for its subscribers throughout the United States.

The weekly paper provides an information source for area organizations, local government, the Tekonsha school system and for news reflecting our residents and subscribers.

As a community paper, the local public provides the news printed.' The news is gathered at a central collection site located at Evans Drug Store in Tekonsha. Contributors must have the information at the drug store by 3:00pm on Tuesday of each week, in order to be included in that week's Friday publication. News may be sent to The Tekonsha IDEA, c/o Evans Drug Store, 129 Main Street, Box 217, Tekonsha, Michigan 49092. (The paper welcomes news, but the paper does have an editorial policy in place, and the paper reserves the right to deny printing any information submitted that the editors feel that doesn't fit our policy guidelines.)

Production costs are financially provided by subscription to the paper and through retail sales at Evans Drug Store, Newt's Market and The Tekonsha Family Store. Many local retailers provide financial support as "Sponsors" to the paper, as without those businesses' generosity, the IDEA's existence could not be possible. Due to our non-profit and postage rate statuses, the paper cannot accept business advertisements, but welcomes articles for new business IDEA sponsorships or new business introductions to the community based on our paper's guidelines.

Subscription renewal terms are June to May of each year, with a year subscription rate of $20.00. School year subscriptions (Aug.-May) are $15.00 and Christmas subscriptions (Dec.-May) are $10.00. Single-issue price is $.50 each.
